Biography

I've been drawing ever since I can remember picking up a pencil and drawing Peanut's characters.  My father would put me in a high chair next to his drawing table and say "draw charlie brown".  I then realizing that I could create worlds and dimensions that only existed in my imagination.  It was also a form of escapism.  Drawing was something that always got me into trouble in school as a child and somewhat kept me off the mean streets of L.A..  When I got involved in oil painting, as a youth, I couldn't  believe how vast and endless the possibilities  were for my creativity and my imagination.  I still have yet to tap my full potential as a painter.

In the early nineties I applied my talents to the software game industry  and now  these days to the animation industry.  All of which have had its ups and downs and I wouldn't have had it any other way.  Over the years I've learned a lot about myself and about people.  At this point in my career I am recognizing the major changes and challenges that are looming on the horizon.  And with anticipation, I patiently calculate my moves to capitalize on what gains that may be had.

Enough of my rambling, here's my official Bio!

Maurice Morgan II, has been scratching, doodling and drawing since he was at
the tender age of five.  Taking his cue's from his father, Maurice Morgan Sr.,
a retired army sergeant (Vet.) and illustrator, he learned to appreciate the
world of art and design.  Seeing his talents starting to take form at the age of
seven, his father enrolled him in the junior arts program at Barnsdale
Art school.  From there, at age thirteen, it was on to Otis Parsons Art
Institute for summer sessions.  Eventually this course paved the way to
Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and thus started the
Morgan odyssey.

Upon graduating Art Center  with a Bachelor of Fine
Arts degree, Maurice, trained as an illustrator, started his career
designing software games for PC and Mac,  eventually moving onto
the cartridge  based arena designing games for such platforms, at the time, as
SEGA GENESIS, SONY 3-DO and SUPER NINTENDO.

In 1995, after a stint as an independent contractor,  Maurice crossed over into  broadcast animation.  An  industry where he worked for studios such as  Warner Bros, Fred Wolf  Films, Nickelodeon Animation, Hanna Barbara, and Sony Animation to name a few.  Like any industry there were the ups and downs.  But for  Maurice,
working in animation has been a joyful and bitter sweet experience, "It can be literally loony at times but, who can complain when your drawing toons and gettin' paid!?"

In search of avenues to stretch, expand, test and fire-up his creativity, Maurice  is consistently challenging his creative abilities and talents.  A visionary in mind.  A day dreamer at heart.  "Not enough hours in a day, man!" And always searching the horizon for artistic expression, stimulation and sparks to add growth to his talents and to learn new alternative forms to communicate visually through a wide range of mediums.
